Open Water Diver is the most sought-after and well-known scuba diving certification. With this certification, you’ll be able to dive anywhere in the world.
Diving is an exciting adventure that allows you to discover the wonders of the underwater realm.
As you descend into the depths of the ocean, you leave behind the bustling world above and enter a tranquil and fascinating environment.
In the Open Water Diver course, you will learn how to prepare your equipment, multiple techniques to approach your dives with quality and safety, and the fundamentals on which autonomous diving is based.
Because to dive safely, it’s essential to understand what is happening at every moment.
At GoDive, we employ progressive learning techniques that allow you to advance in your training with greater ease.
We also apply the method of repetition among other teaching methods, which helps you internalize the basic techniques that form the pillars of safety in recreational diving.
At the completion of the standard course, if the student requires or requests it, they can participate in reinforcement classes.
Course development
The Open Water Diver course (the most requested of the trainings) consists of the following phases:
At your home
It’s developed through an E-learning platform where users can comfortably read all the theory of the course anytime and anywhere.
Meanwhile, there will be tests available to check what you’ve learned and consolidate knowledge.
At your dive center
- Review:We dedicate a 3-hour in-person session for our professionals to help you understand all the concepts properly. At the end of this class, a multiple-choice test will be conducted for the instructor to verify that everything has been clearly understood and, if not, to provide clarification
- Confined water session. In this approximately 2-hour session, you will learn how to assemble equipment, test it, and perform multiple exercises both on and under the water. We consider this session as an adaptation phase that establishes the foundations of learning the techniques.
- 4 practice dives. In these dives, we will start at very shallow depths, performing the most basic exercises learned in confined waters. Subsequently, we will gradually increase the bottom time and depth reached with each dive, as well as introduce more complex exercises, always tailored to each individual’s level and meeting essential minimum requirements. It’s important to mention that in our course, students learn to deploy the safety buoy, a concept that is typically not taught until the advanced level. However, for safety reasons, we prefer to teach it from the beginning. These dives are conducted successively in pairs, with the estimated time for each pair of dives being around 2.5 to 3 hours
- 2 final dives. These dives will be conducted like any other dive you might undertake after completing the course, with the purpose of exposing you to the reality you will encounter in the future. You will be responsible for assembling your own equipment, attending a briefing, settling in on the boat, and approaching the dive autonomously. However, you will have the advantage of being accompanied by an instructor who will assist and correct you if necessary.
Our certifications are recognized worldwide. We offer several certifying agencies to choose from, including ACUC, PADI, FEDAS, or SSI.
The course takes place over three days, which do not necessarily have to be consecutive.
